Keeping Traditions with Hallmark and My Mom’s White Chocolate Party Mix
Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. Every year my mom would decorate the tree and the house with us and then the holiday baking would begin. Every year she would make batches and batches of her white chocolate party mix. She would package them in baggies and give them to everyone. We even got tins of it when we came home for Christmas vacation.
Every year I make my own batch of Mom’s White Chocolate Party mix for my friends and family. In fact it’s one of my favorite traditions to keep her memory alive.
I stopped into Walmart to get my ingredients and stopped in the Hallmark section. There’s nothing like sending cheer with a handwritten greeting card. Hallmark greeting cards are the perfect way to show someone you care.

I also found Hallmark Ornaments at Walmart and picked one up for my nephew. I figured he’d love it along with Grandma’s White Chocolate Party mix.
I can’t wait to give all of my friends their goodie bag and their card.
My Mom’s White Chocolate Party Mix is super simple to make. You mix up rice cereal, corn cereal, pretzels, peanuts and candy coated chocolate pieces.
I also melted white chocolate chips. Another trick my mom taught me is to add about a tablespoon of shortening to get silky smooth melted chips.
Then you just mix it all together and spread it out on parchment paper. I let mine harden for about 1 to 2 hours and then I package it up.
What holiday traditions do you have?
- 4 cups pretzels
- 2 ½ cups rice cereal
- 2 ½ cups corn cereal
- 1 cup salted peanuts
- 1 cup candy coated chocolates
- 1 11-12 oz pkg white chocolate baking pieces
- 1 tbsp shortening
- Mix pretzels, rice cereal, corn cereal, peanuts, and candy coated chocolates.
- Melt white chocolate baking pieces.
- Mix all together and spread out on parchment paper.
- Let harden for 1 to 2 hours.
- Package.
- Enjoy!

I’m so glad that you posted this! It reminded me that my husband’s grandmother used to make tins of treats and send them to us. She’d keep extras in tins on her kitchen table. I need to pick his brain and find out what things she made that are his favorites. I bet you there are things we don’t make and should! I agree, a handwritten card is the best! Happy holidays!
