Giving Back to the Community at Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank

When I look at my life I have to say I’m pretty fortunate. I don’t get everything I want and I don’t have brand new everything but I do have what I need including a roof over my head and food to eat. I also have quite a few non necessities like a vehicle, a phone, and more. I’m really blessed and I am truly thankful for that. In fact most of us have quite a bit to be thankful for.

Last month my friend, Beth Ann, from It’s Just Life challenged us to collect food for our local food bank, Hawkeye Harvest.

Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank is in Mason City, IA and provides emergency food for those in need in our community.  During the month of November the North Iowa Bloggers collected food for Hawkeye Harvest and we dropped off our donations to them today.

We collectively donated 235 pounds of food and $200 with this trip! Thanks to all of you who supported us!

Right now Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank is in the running to win a $20,000 makeover grant from Walmart!

They need your votes everyday between now and Dec 12. Right now they are in 37th place but the race is so tightly contested and they need to finish in the top 75. Every vote is going to be important and your vote could be the difference maker!

Help us strengthen communities and fight hunger

Walmart believes that everyone should have access to safe, affordable food. However, for too many people in America, this can be a challenge. Their goal with the “Food Pantry Holiday Makeover” campaign is to strengthen communities by helping food pantries across the country refresh their facilities to make it easier for them to help families who may struggle with hunger.

• Walmart will donate a total of $1.5 million to 75 food pantries through this campaign
• They need your help to decide which food pantries should receive a share of these funds
