DIY Tutu

DIY Tutu

I shared with you that I ran my very first Cupid’s run.  When thinking about what I would wear I decided to make a tutu.  I was really surprised how easy it was.

DIY Tutu

I used 6 yards of tulle in red and white. You can choose any color that you’d like.  I also bought elastic.  I put the elastic around my waist and cut it about 2 inches smaller than my waist.  I wanted to put it on easily, but not have it hurt.

I cut each piece of tulle about an inch to inches wide.  I folded it in half and made a loop.

DIY Tutu

Hold the loop over the top of the elastic piece.

DIY Tutu

Bring your ends up and under the elastic and pull it through the loop.

DIY Tutu

Pull tight and move closer to your other knots.

I alternated the colors and learned not to squeeze them to tightly together.  The tighter you push them together the more full your tutu is.

DIY Tutu

I was really happy with the result. Now, it was a very easy method, but also time consuming.  Next time I’ll make it while watching a movie or something 😉

Have you ever made a tutu? Let me know if you do!

It is a bit time consuming, but I’m sure the more you do it the easier it becomes. I love that you can customize it 🙂
