Cinnamon Hot Toddy
I don’t know about you, but we’ve had some pretty chilly days. Like 20 and 30 below zero days. When it gets that cold I try to stay indoors as much as possible, but there are reasons I need to leave the house so when I do I bundle up. With out fail I usually get a cold in the winter.
My grandmother taught me how to make a tea that always made me feel better. She called it a hot toddy. To this day I still make them when I get a cold and they work very well.
It takes a few ingredients and it’s very easy to make. I start by boiling my water and getting my ingredients ready. I use 2 Bigelow Orange & Spice Herbal Tea teabags, 1 cinnamon stick, 3 cloves, 1 tsp ginger, honey, half a lemon, and whiskey. I like using the Fireball Whiskey because it gives it even more cinnamon flavor.
I put the ginger, cloves, cinnamon stick, and teabags in my mug then add my boiling water to steep for 5 minutes.
Remember to leave room for the whiskey 😉
After the 5 minutes of steeping are done I remove my teabags. I cut a small slice off the lemon and squeeze the rest of it into the tea. I add whiskey and honey and the slice of lemon.
Then you drink it down. The warm tea feels so good and I usually go to bed right after. It definitely opens up any chest congestion you might have.
Do you have any home remedies?

I love hot toddies! I usually make mine with earl gray tea and honey whiskey.

The Hot Toddy is my go to recipe for relief but I also sometimes have a grand mariner with a coffee back.
