Beauty and the Beast – Tale as Old as Time
Tale as Old as Time……….The remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has finally arrived. The movie follows the original animated film almost exactly, unlike more recent remakes Disney has put out (think Tarzan). From the start of the film your senses are struck with the color and beauty of the landscape and town. You will find yourself singing along to the songs from the original and pleasantly surprised to find they have added some new songs which only add to the delight which is Beauty and the Beast.
Emma Watson shines as Belle; she is beautiful and witty with a sense of humor that is contagious. Dan Stevens makes a believable beast who wins over not just Belle but the audience as well with his shy demeanor and awkward attempts at humor. Luke Evans brings Gaston to life, and you can’t help falling a little for the conceited, handsome villain. By far my favorite character, LeFou, was played by Josh Gad, whose charm and humor made him easy to love. The entire cast was enchanting and brought Beauty and the Beast to life.
Whether you are an avid Beauty and the Beast fan (starting with the animated version) like myself, or you’ve never seen it, this movie is a must see. You will laugh, you will cry, you will root for love. It is a movie the entire family can enjoy. I watched with my 9 year old daughter and we are watching it a second time this weekend because we just loved it that much!
