Appetizer Recipes Stuffed Mushrooms with Apple and Bacon
I’ve always loved stuffed mushrooms and I’m constantly looking for new ways to switch them up and new things to stuff them with.
I’ve also shared my love for al fresco with you and decided to come up with something with their Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage and their Chicken Bacon. It was definitely a winner.
I started by removing the sausage from the casing and breaking it up. I also preheated the oven to 400 degrees. I cooked the sausage until done and set aside.
I diced half of a small onion, cooked it in the pan from the sausage and set it aside as well.
For the stuffing I tore up 5 pieces of gluten free bread and mixed it with 2 tbsp of melted butter, 3/4 cup of chicken stock, salt, and pepper. I then added the sausage and onions as well as 4 pieces of chicken bacon. I shredded an 8 oz block of sharp white cheddar cheese and mixed the majority of it into my stuffing mixture. I did set aside a few tablespoons to melt on the mushrooms later.
Next I washed my mushrooms and removed the centers. I sprinkled them with olive oil and filled each mushroom with a heaping amount of the stuffing mixture. I then cooked it for 25 minutes.
When they were done cooking a sprinkled on the remaining white cheddar until it melted.
They were so good!
