Creativity comes Alive at Kelly Gau Studio
One of my favorite things to do is spend time painting and crafting. I love to create; for me it’s fun and relaxing. One of my favorite places to create is at Kelly Gau Studio. Kelly is one of my favorite people both as a person and an artist. She makes these beautiful mixed media lovelies. You can check out Kelly’s work here.
I was really excited to bring my fellow #NorthIowaBlogger, Beth Ann from It’s Just Life, to make Snowmen at Kelly’s studio last week. The studio is in Lake Mills, IA and she teaches you the process step by step. Your cost includes the class and all the supplies you need to make your own lovely. Here is her Events Schedule.
It’s amazing how we start out with a blank canvas and it slowly comes to life. Kelly is so good with her directions and explanations that anyone can look like a real artist by the end of the project.
This is about half way through the process. We used paint, scrapbook paper, music sheet and LOTS of modge podge. Okay, I probably used a little too much of the modge podge and Kelly may or may not have instructed me to use less. I’m sticking to her famous quote “there are no mistakes” 😉
This is my final creation! How cool is that?! I absolutely love it and it’s hanging in my living room. What I thought was so amazing is we all followed the same instructions yet we all had such different works of art.
Her class was so much fun! Beth Ann and I had a wonderful time hanging out with her. I mentioned before that Kelly is one of my favorite people. We go to the same church and I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know her over the last few years. I just love that she loves Jesus so much and it shines through everything she does. She is such a sweet and encouraging light. I just love being around her.
If you’re in the North Iowa (or southern Minnesota) area I highly recommend taking a class with Kelly and letting your creativity come alive!
